Johannesburg – Goliath Comedy Club
A line up of new and established South African comedy acts made for a great Thursday evening in Johannesburg. The venue was in jocular mood and there was a good atmosphere.
Napsta was the host for the evening. Full of energy, he managed to find the stray American in the audience who had just arrived post Trump victory so was targeted in a really nice but funny way. The comedians here are not vicious. They will make fun of the audience members and their professions, but you can see the respect and they know when to stop.
Joe Parker, South African veteran of stage and local television guested. This guy is clearly an accomplished pro and had the audience eating out of his hand. He was very funny.
Mo Mothebe followed, a very funny observational comedian.
Carl Weber was next who was a good laugh, telling us all about his growing up experiences.
Stuart Taylor headlined the evening and introduced as a scientist turned comedian and established TV presenter and magician. A real pro. You can always tell when someone comes on who is established and commanding. His view of South African life, its social differences and colour relations was funny and in no way offensive to anyone.
Jason Goliath closed out the evening checking really that everyone had had a good time – which they definitely did. Thanks Jason and Nick Goliath – a fab evening. Good food drink atmosphere and enjoyable entertainment. All the staff were great too.
